Variety chart of produce seeds

I found this very interesting. There are a lot more types, but you do have to hunt for them.. and many of them cling to existence only because of a devoted backyard gardener.

  1. What a great loss...just look at how many varieties of cabbage there were. From what I have veiwed in the seed catalogs I am surprised that there are even 28 still being sold.

  2. Hmmmm I hope the lemon cucumber is one of them that they have saved.

In plants I can appreciate diversity so it is sad.

  3. @ Mr. H.. you can find many more varieties, but you have to know where to look. :) The typical availability is what they are listing. These are the seeds you find in the stores and major seed catalogs (some of which you know may look like separate companies.. but are actually the same one.)

@ PP.. lemon cucumber is still around, but like with trends, some get phased out or rotated.
